Tin Pei Ling Rina, 28 (PAP)
Ms Tin is an Honours student in the NUS University Scholars Programme, majoring in Psychology. Pei Ling served as President of the NUS Society of Social Work & Psychology Students in 2003/04. She is also a grassroots volunteer (since 2004) with the Ulu Pandan Community Club Youth Executive Committee, and the South West Community Development Council. A natural orator, she competed against native speakers from Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the inaugural Taipei City Cup Chinese-English Impromptu Speech Contest in 2005,emerging with the top prize in the tertiary category.

Nicole Rebecca Seah Xue Ling, 24 (NSP)
Ms Seah is a 24 year-old executive with a multinational advertising agency. She graduated with an honours degree from the National University of Singapore, under the University Scholars’ Programme. Prior to that, she spent most of her education within the Marine Parade precinct, having graduated from Victoria Junior College, Tanjong Katong Secondary School and CHIJ Katong.

Ms Han is the 2nd child of a family of 4 girls. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999 where she majored in Economics and Japanese Studies.
An entrepreneur at heart, Glenda founded her first venture, Ig’s Heaven, a shop retailing in giftware and homeware right after graduation. It quickly expanded into a chain within 2 years. In 2002, she decided to sell Ig’s Heaven off and took off to travel around before settling down in Paris, France, for the next two years. Her observations of the political scene in Paris first sparked off her interest in the governance of a country.
Glenda returned to Singapore in 2004 and in the same year, set up a cocktail bar, Les Chameaux, at Robertson Quay. It was subsequently sold off in 2007. Just prior, she left for Hong Kong in 2006 to take up a job as a money broker. She is still based in Hong Kong and has also established her own line of body care products, Baan, which are currently distributed both in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Glenda joined Workers’ Party in 2004 and was elected as Deputy Secretary of the Party’s Youth Wing which was set up in 2005. The following year, she contested her maiden General Elections in Ang Mo Kio GRC in which the team won 33.9% of the votes against the Prime Minister’s PAP team. She is currently a CEC member.
Philosophy:
During her stint in Paris, Glenda noticed that the people were very much heard and participative in national matters whereas the contrary can be seen happening in Singapore. “Times are changing; we cannot grow the same way we have grown for the past 40 years, waiting to be told by a few men what is good and what is not.”
As such, she hopes a more politically competitive Singapore will also result in a more open environment to encourage more creativity, innovation and a conducive breeding ground for entrepreneurs.
She believes in travelling as much as possible so as to widen one’s horizons while building up one’s character at the same time. To date, she has been to 26 countries.
Angela Faye Oon, 32 (WP)
Angela is a researcher whose current work focuses on the travels of Rabindranath Tagore in Asia. She has published in The Mailer Review (Fall 2009) and The Encyclopedia of Social Movement Media (Sage Publications: 2010). She is interested in Singapore’s history and heritage issues.
Born in Kelantan, Malaysia, Ms Oon has lived in Singapore since she was two months old. She became a Permanent Resident at the age of five, and obtained citizenship in 2010.
“I’ve gone through all the joys and trials and experiences of growing up as a Singaporean,” she said.
It will be really interesting to see whether their popularity in the net will reel the votes needed to get them a seat in the parliament.
If it does, we know one thing for sure... social media is no longer just for leisure - it can be serious business...
In my opinion, the most attractive politically linked babe by far is former NMP - Eunice Olsen.
Eunice Elizabeth Olsen (born 24 October 1977) is a former Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) in Singapore. She is well known for having been the winner of the Miss Singapore Universe contest in 2000. She is also known for appearing on a number of television shows in Singapore, including being the co-host of Wheel of Fortune on MediaCorp TV Channel 5.
Olsen was educated at St Margaret's School, Anglo-Chinese Junior College and National University of Singapore (BA in Political Science and Philosophy).
In November 2004, Olsen was appointed as one of nine NMPs by President S R Nathan, becoming the youngest Member of Parliament at the age of 27. She remained an NMP until July 2009. She sought to raise awareness about youth issues and to promote youth programmes and volunteerism. In the parliamentary debate on integrated resorts in 2005, Olsen called for stronger measures to address social problems of compulsive gambling, including mandating a loss limit for casino patrons and to require the casino operator to provide responsible gambling counseling services.[3]
Olsen is a Eurasian Singaporean of mixed Norwegian, Malaccan Portuguese, and Chinese ancestry. She is the brand ambassador of Shell Eastern Petroleum, Nescafé Gold, Motorola Electronics and Redken.
Too bad, she's no longer in the political scene...
